Internet Download Speed and Ping Test

Internet Download Speed and Ping Test

Request Cloudflare's speed-test endpoint to measure minimum and average latency plus Mbps from an approximately 25 MB download.

Results are estimates and can vary with distance from Cloudflare's test server and network congestion. Test data is downloaded from Cloudflare; no user files or input are uploaded.

Key features

  • Makes five requests to a Cloudflare download endpoint and calculates minimum and average round-trip time.
  • Calculates Mbps from bytes received and elapsed time for an approximately 25 MB response stream.
  • Shows download progress and a live approximate speed.
  • Reports minimum and average ping with final download speed.

How to use

  1. Pause other heavy network activity and start the test.
  2. Keep the page open while five ping requests and the approximately 25 MB download finish.
  3. Review the result and repeat under the same conditions if needed.

Examples

  • Quickly check download conditions

Repeat the test on the same device and location to compare approximate download Mbps.

  • Compare HTTP round-trip delay

Compare minimum and average request times to the Cloudflare endpoint under different conditions.

Privacy

This tool explicitly sends network requests to speed.cloudflare.com, where Cloudflare may process ordinary request metadata and your IP address. It does not upload user files.

Requirements

An internet connection, browser Fetch streaming, and access to the Cloudflare endpoint are required. The test uses about 25 MB, does not measure upload speed, and returns an estimate affected by distance, congestion, caching, and wireless conditions.

Common questions

Is the displayed ping an ICMP ping?
No. It is browser-measured round-trip time from five empty HTTP requests to Cloudflare's download endpoint. It can differ from command-line ICMP ping.
Does it measure upload speed?
No. It downloads an approximately 25 MB response and calculates receive speed only. That data is consumed during the test, and results vary with network conditions.
