Key features

  • Displays microphone RMS input and peak level on a 24-segment meter.
  • Lists input devices after permission so you can switch microphones.
  • Plays a 440 Hz sine tone through the left, right, or both channels for about 1.2 seconds.
  • Adjusts the test-tone volume.

How to use

  1. Start the microphone, allow access, and speak to inspect the meter.
  2. Choose another input device if needed.
  3. At low volume, play the left, right, and both-channel speaker tests.

Examples

  • Check input before a call

Grant microphone permission and confirm that the level meter responds while you speak.

  • Check left and right output

Play left, right, and stereo test tones to inspect the selected output path.

Privacy

Microphone stream analysis and test-tone synthesis run in your browser; audio is neither recorded nor sent to a server.

Requirements

The microphone test needs getUserMedia permission and the Web Audio API. The speaker test needs AudioContext and stereo panning; channel separation depends on the device and output configuration.

Common questions

Does it record or save microphone audio?
No. It analyzes current and peak levels from a permitted audio stream but creates no recording file and uploads no audio.
Does silence during the speaker test prove a hardware fault?
No. Also check mute, output-device selection, volume, and browser autoplay policy. This tool does not diagnose the device itself.
