On-Device Speech to Text Dictation

Dictate with a supported browser's local speech pack, then copy the transcript or export it as TXT.

Speech to text
After preparing the selected language pack, this tool converts speech to text on your device without sending audio to a remote server. A language pack may be downloaded the first time you use it.

Key features

  • Selects local dictation in Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, or Spanish.
  • Displays finalized text separately from interim recognition results.
  • Restarts the local recognition instance while listening until you stop it, and can clear results.
  • Copies finalized text or exports it as a UTF-8 TXT file.

How to use

  1. Choose a recognition language and press Start.
  2. Allow any required browser speech-pack installation and microphone access, then speak.
  3. Stop recognition and copy or export the finalized transcript.

Examples

  • Draft meeting notes by speaking

Run continuous dictation in a selected language and copy finalized sentences into a working document.

  • Capture an idea hands-free

Dictate a short thought through the microphone and save the finalized transcript as a UTF-8 TXT file.

Privacy

The tool enforces processLocally and does not fall back to a remote recognition service. The browser may download the selected on-device speech pack over the network before first use.

Requirements

A browser supporting on-device Web Speech recognition, speech-pack installation, the selected language, and microphone access is required. Unsupported environments do not receive a remote fallback.

Common questions

Does speech recognition work in every browser?
No. It requires a Web Speech implementation that supports processLocally, speech-pack checks and installation, and the selected language; there is no remote fallback.
Does installing a language pack require a connection?
If the selected pack is missing, the browser may download it over the network before first use. Recognition runs on the device after the pack is ready.
