Remove Audio from Video — Mute Video Without Re-encoding

Remove every audio track from a video and download a silent MP4 or WebM. Supported video is copied without re-encoding, locally in your browser, with preview and download.

Files are processed only in this browser, never sent to or stored on our servers.

Silent video
Choose a video and remove its audio to see the result here.

Only the primary video track is saved. Subtitles and other video tracks are excluded; the file may be shorter if removed audio extended beyond the video.

Key features

  • Removes all audio tracks from the output file, not just the playback volume.
  • Copies supported primary video packets without re-encoding or reducing resolution.
  • Automatically selects a compatible MP4 or WebM output container.
  • Includes progress, cancellation, result preview, and download.

How to use

  1. Choose or drop the video whose audio you want to remove.
  2. Check the video information and output format, then select Remove audio.
  3. Preview the silent result and select Download video.

Privacy

Neither the original nor the result is uploaded to or stored on our servers. Reading and audio removal happen in your browser without overwriting your original file.

Requirements

Input is limited to 500 MB and output to 256 MiB; available browser memory may require smaller files. Only codec/container combinations that allow packet copying are supported. HDR, transparency, non-square pixels, and some variable-rate WebM files are unsupported. Only the primary video is kept; subtitles, alternate video tracks, and descriptive tags are not copied.

Common questions

Does removing audio reduce video quality?
Supported encoded video packets are copied as-is. There is no resizing or re-encoding; files that cannot preserve this are reported as unsupported.
Can I unmute the downloaded file to restore the sound?
No. The output has no audio tracks. Keep the original file if you may need its sound later.
Can the total duration change?
The primary video timeline is preserved. If removed audio continued after the video ended, the overall output file can be shorter.
Does every MP4, MOV, or WebM work?
No. Support depends on the internal codec and presentation information, not only the extension. A video that already has no audio is reported as silent without generating a new copy.
