Extract Audio from Video | MP4 and WebM Audio Export

Extract and convert a video's primary audio track locally to WAV, MP3, M4A, WebM, or FLAC when your browser supports it.

Extract audio from video
Save the primary audio track from a video in a supported format.

Key features

  • Finds the primary audio track and exports it without video.
  • Shows only output formats the current browser reports it can encode.
  • Lets you choose sample rate, channel count, and bitrate for lossy formats.
  • Previews the result and passes it directly to conversion, trimming, or Whisper subtitles.

How to use

  1. Choose the video whose audio you need.
  2. Select one of the verified output formats and audio settings.
  3. Extract, preview, and download the new audio file.

Examples

  • Keep only speech from a recording

Turn a lecture, interview, or meeting video into a smaller audio-only file.

  • Prepare video speech for subtitles

Send the extracted result directly to the Whisper subtitle generator without selecting it again.

  • Prepare an editing source

Choose a suitable format and channels, then continue in the audio trimmer.

Privacy

Reading, demuxing, and encoding happen in your browser; neither the video nor output is uploaded.

Requirements

Input is limited to 500 MB and estimated output must remain below 256 MiB. Container decoding and MP3, AAC, Opus, or FLAC encoding depend on the browser, so even WAV may be unavailable for a particular input.

Common questions

Can every MP4 be converted to MP3?
No. MP3 is offered only when this browser can read the MP4 audio track and encode MP3.
Which track is used when a video has several audio tracks?
The tool uses the container's primary audio track, based on default flags and track information.
Are video or location tags kept?
No. Video tracks and descriptive source metadata are not copied into the audio output.
