Annotate a PDF | Add Text, Pen, and Highlights

Add text notes, freehand pen strokes, and translucent highlight rectangles as new overlays on PDF page previews.

Key features

  • Adds short text notes with page, position, color, and font-size controls.
  • Draws multiple freehand pen strokes over the preview with a mouse or touch.
  • Places translucent highlight rectangles using exact percentage position and size.
  • Undoes the latest page mark or clears that page, then saves against viewer-visible rotation.

How to use

  1. Choose a PDF no larger than 50,000,000 bytes or 200 pages and select an annotation page.
  2. Switch among text, pen, and highlight modes to add and preview page-specific overlays.
  3. Review the annotation count and limitations, then download a new PDF containing every overlay.

Examples

  • Mark review points

Place a short note and highlight near a sentence in a draft to show another reader where to look.

  • Draw by hand on a tablet

Use touch strokes for checks and lines on study material, plans, or a proofreading copy.

Privacy

PDF previews and annotation compositing happen only in the current browser; the document and note content are not sent to a server.

Requirements

This adds new overlays without selecting, editing, or deleting existing PDF text or annotations. Text notes support Latin characters and symbols in the standard PDF font, and collaborative comment threads are not included.

Common questions

Can this directly edit existing PDF text?
No. Existing content remains unchanged; the tool adds new text, line, and highlight overlays on top of the page.
Can it delete annotations already in the PDF?
No. You can undo only overlays added in the current session before saving. Original annotation objects are not modified.
