Add Page Numbers to PDF | Position and Start Number

Add sequential numbers to a PDF from any page with top or bottom and left, center, or right placement.

Key features

  • Places page numbers at the top or bottom with left, center, or right alignment.
  • Sets both the first PDF page to number and the number displayed on that page.
  • Uses a 6–72 pt font size and keeps every number inside its page bounds.
  • Keeps original dimensions and content while placing numbers in the viewer-visible orientation of rotated pages.

How to use

  1. Choose a PDF no larger than 50,000,000 bytes or 200 pages.
  2. Set vertical position, alignment, first page, starting number, and font size.
  3. Review the placement summary and click Download numbered PDF.

Examples

  • Number a report for distribution

Skip a cover page, start the body at 1, and place consistent numbers at the bottom center.

  • Organize scans and submission packets

Stamp a merged PDF with sequential references that are easy to match between printed and digital copies.

Privacy

PDF reading, number placement, and file generation happen only in your browser; the document is never sent to a server.

Requirements

Inputs are limited to at most 50,000,000 bytes and 200 pages. Password-protected or damaged PDFs cannot be processed, and the first version uses numeric labels with standard Helvetica only.

Common questions

Can I skip the cover and start at 1?
Yes. Set First page to number to 2 and Starting number to 1. The cover remains untouched and PDF page two displays 1.
Will page size or existing content change?
No. Original page dimensions and content remain in place; the tool only draws standard-font digits within the selected edge.
